MUSA’nın yazılarından başlayarak …It’s been in print in Turkey for some time now, but today we are making the Turkish edition of And Beginning with Moses… available as a free PDF download on our website.

And Beginning with Moses… is our primer on sharing the gospel following the example of Jesus on the road to Emmaus. It details the challenges we face in communicating the gospel in today’s culture, including issues like:

  • Syncretism
  • Being too brief
  • Assuming too much of your listener
  • Not covering the essentials of the gospel

All eyes on Brazil

Brazil flag

All eyes were on Brazil as everyone supported their soccer/football team during this year’s World Cup.

Heaven continues to watch and cheer, but for quite another reason. Brazilian people are understanding and trusting Jesus Christ as their saviour!

“Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:10 ESV

A missionary in Brazil wrote a little note of encouragement, telling how she has been using The Lamb in her ministry to children:

Thank you again for The Lamb book which you might remember giving to me a few years ago… What a great tool for sharing the gospel and creating conversation about Jesus. I have recently read it with three young friends here who all loved it. One asked to borrow the book after we were finished and read the whole thing out loud to her parents! My mom is also using The Lamb as a discipleship tool with a newly-saved mom of three young children. I found that The Lamb is now available in Portuguese as O Cordeiro. Last summer, I took a few copies to use in Brazil and then to leave with churches and children’s workers there. So glad you introduced me to The Lamb!

We regularly hear stories and testimonies from Brazil of ambassadors of Christ sharing the gospel clearly and people coming to salvation. As the World Cup continues, praise God with us for what he is doing.

Radio

Every time we receive a report from a partner ministry, our hearts are encouraged. It is always good to hear how our tools are being used in another part of the globe.

At the beginning of this year, TWR in Sri Lanka, with our permission, took By This Name and created a weekly radio broadcast in Sinhala called, God’s Unique Book. Sinhala is one of the three official languages of Sri Lanka. In just two months of being on air, TWR had received over 50 letters and phone calls from listeners. Here are some quotes that have been translated from Sinhala into English:

Evangelism with internationals at state university–an interview

Screen Shot 2014-06-26 at 12.54.56 PMEditor’s note: One of our GoodSeed staff recently interviewed Veronica,* who spends much of her time teaching English as a second language (ESL) and doing evangelism Bible studies with Asian international students at a large state university. So, how does she do it?!

Read this inspiring interview that is chock-full of typical examples of how GoodSeed tools are used to lead people to a clear understanding of the Bible…

In January we posted a Report from Malawi describing what God has been doing there through the newly translated Chichewa edition of the booklet What are Christmas and Easter All About? Recently, over the Easter weekend, the booklet was broadcast live and listeners were able to call in with questions, comments, and to order the book for themselves. Here’s an excerpt from Rodrick, the Bible teacher who did the broadcast:

Kenyan translator teaches as he was taught

Kenya-BTNLast year Lewis,* a pastor from Arizona, joined a team of Bible teachers organized by Village Ministries International to travel from USA to Uganda and Kenya. Their objective was to provide Bible training resources for indigenous pastors and teachers.

Abasi,* a young Kenyan fluent in both English and Swahili, volunteered to be a translator for the team. As they travelled over rough terrain from village to village, Abasi faithfully and accurately conveyed the teaching with conviction to over 200 people who attended the meetings. By the end of the trip, it was clear to Lewis and the others that young Abasi was not only a good communicator but also a keen and humble student of the Word.

A second chance at sharing the gospel

SunsetPeter* wanted to share the gospel with a 65-year-old friend named Thomas.* They watched The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus VideoBook together but Thomas did not understand the gospel message. He clung to the idea that to be right with God, he simply had to live a good life and follow God’s rules. A year later, Thomas became terminally ill with cancer. Peter visited him at the hospital and, over the course of two weeks, read aloud from The Lamb.

After the first week, Thomas still insisted that one simply had to live a good life to be acceptable to God. But as he learned of God’s ten rules, he began to see he was a helpless sinner. Then, Thomas came to understand how God could punish sin without punishing the sinner through the provision of a substitute lamb. He realized that unless God provided a way for him, he could not live with God in Heaven.

When Peter finished the book, he asked, “Thomas, who is your lamb?”

The tools were a God-send on my missions trip to India

Teaching the Gospel to orphans in India using the Lamb
Children at an orphanage in India learn about The Lamb

Editor’s note: Brenna Stoll recently returned home from a missions trip to an orphanage in India. She wrote the following email to us to share how she used GoodSeed tools to teach the gospel there. The Lamb was well received by both the little ones as well as the older children. By This Name is perfectly suited for India because it helps people with an Eastern worldview understand the Bible. Praise God for excellent results on this missions trip!

Worldview Rethink Course

After attending a TERM Seminar, Jacob* was eager to try leading a course just as he had been shown. He booked a room at his church and publicized that a course was about to start. He told a church leader he would be going through the book The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus. The church leader quipped, “You’ll be doing well if you get three! The study is a bit long and Friday night is not a good night.” Undaunted, Jacob trusted the Lord to bring people. He is now mid-way through the course and he sent us an update:

The Lamb on Easter
Example of a church (not Diane’s) using The Lamb on Easter

On our new website, there is a contact form that anyone can use to contact us. We were pleased to receive this note from Diane:*

The Lamb is a great tool that God has given. I have seen Him use it in the salvation of my five-year-old granddaughter’s life and in the life of a 75-year-old Japanese lady.

I am currently using it each Sunday for children’s church. We have kids from second to fifth grade. I take The Lamb DVD and play a chapter at a time, and then ask the questions found in the book. On Easter Sunday, I plan to show the DVD in its entirety… with popcorn! We want the children (especially those who might have missed a Sunday or two) to see the complete story. We have several unchurched children attending these sessions. May God use the The Lamb to bring about salvation for all the children.

Pray along with us, that the Holy Spirit will help the children understand the gospel message and that each precious child will be able to declare, “Jesus is my lamb! He died for me.”
