Postcards from Brazil

We recently received a long email from Brazil. A ministry there wanted to encourage us by letting us know they had received quite a number of testimonies regarding our tools. Here are a series of translated notes from them.

My mother now believes!
A missionary wrote to say that for years she had been trying to share the gospel with her own mother. When she got a copy of Portuguese edition of The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus, she used it to teach her mother and by God’s grace, her mother understood and now believes.

From Brazil to Germany and back again
Ileana* travelled from her home city of Curitiba in Brazil to Germany and stayed with a friend. There she found a copy of The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus in the home and read it. She said she was amazed. When she returned to Brazil, she searched to see if there was a Portuguese version of the book. She found it at the ministry’s online store. She ordered 10 copies to give as presents and before too long, she ordered another 10 more. She wrote to say that some of the book’s recipients had come to put their trust in Jesus Christ as their Saviour!

I’ll take 200
A pastor from Belém (in Brazil’s north) bought 200 Bibles, 200 copies of The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus (Portuguese edition) and 200 Stranger Workbooks. His plan was to give each member of his church a set and to get each one of them to begin guiding a friend through the gospel message. Now that’s quite a vision to reach the community with the gospel message.

I’m not giving you back the book
Another missionary in Brazil gave her brother-in-law the Spanish edition of The Stranger, who lives in Paraguay. He read the book and came to believe in Jesus as his Saviour. He told his sister-in-law that he wasn’t going to return the book to her. When she asked why, he told her, “This book has answered my doubts that no one had been able to answer.” He was planning to keep it to re-read and refer to.

These stories were such an encouragement to us! We hope they will give you some ideas on how to share the gospel with friends and family.
