{"id":6264,"date":"2022-04-05T11:02:12","date_gmt":"2022-04-05T17:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/?p=6264"},"modified":"2023-07-27T10:13:51","modified_gmt":"2023-07-27T16:13:51","slug":"alive-with-a-roar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/2022\/04\/05\/alive-with-a-roar\/","title":{"rendered":"Alive with a Roar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Celebrate the incredible story of the Cross and the Tomb with this animated presentation of the poem &#8220;Alive with a Roar.&#8221; And then share it widely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Alive with a Roar\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/695892980?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[If you would like to download this resurrection poem video to share in your church&#8217;s Easter services, please watch it on Vimeo and click the download button at https:\/\/vimeo.com\/695892980 ]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We left Jerusalem, about midday<br>Avoiding travellers along the way.<br>Taking the road alone, dusty and dry,<br>Trying to escape that prying eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We argued as we walked, what could it mean<br>Of Jesus, and the miracles we\u2019d seen?<br>Of stories we\u2019d heard, of places we\u2019d been,<br>How a lamb could atone for one\u2019s own sin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Half in fear, half in hope,<br>Rehearsing His life, trying to cope.<br>First we whispered, then we cried<br>You see, we were there when Jesus died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then a stranger joined us unaware\u2014<br>His presence fresh, like a gust of air.<br>We gave no thought, where he was from<br>And took no interest in how he\u2019d come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At first he spoke not yet a word,<br>But listened carefully, as we conferred.<br>As we discussed the day\u2019s events<br>And all that Jesus was up against.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The stranger then spoke, as in dismay,<br>\u201cWhy do you dispute along the way?\u201d<br>Stunned, we said, \u201cDidn\u2019t you see the throng,<br>The trial, the crucifixion, the terrible wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Discouraged beyond reason, our minds in a haze,<br>Cleopas asked, \u201cWhere\u2019ve you been the last three days?<br>Did you just arrive? Are you a visitor in town?<br>Have you not heard the news buzzing around?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat things?\u201d the stranger said, his face unseen.<br>Cleopas replied, \u201cAbout Jesus, the Nazarene!<br>He was powerful in action, in speech before God;<br>A man of His word, without deceit or fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut then, the priests, the leaders of our land<br>Sentenced Jesus by popular demand.<br>They nailed Him to a cross, He was crucified;<br>It was there on that tree, He actually died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe grieve, for we hoped that He was the One<br>Who would redeem Israel, when things were all done.<br>Instead, He was buried in a tomb\u2014it\u2019s now the third day;<br>It seemed all over, so we planned to travel this way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut then, today, some women we know astounded us.<br>They arrived at the tomb early to avoid any fuss.<br>They went with spices, as is custom to do<br>And found not His body or anyone else they knew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey claimed to see a vision of angels there<br>Who said Jesus was alive, and don\u2019t despair.<br>Men went to the tomb to take a look;<br>They found Him not and returned rather shook.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And then the stranger spoke, as one would grieve.<br>He spoke of things we knew, things we believe,<br>But he cast a fresh light on heart and mind;<br>Rebuked us for being so deaf and blind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said, \u201cO foolish men, and slow of heart to believe<br>All that the prophets have spoken, you see.<br>Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things<br>And enter His glory as is fitting with kings?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then starting with Moses at the front of the scroll<br>He taught through the Prophets, he spoke to the soul.<br>He explained God\u2019s Lamb, using all of Scripture<br>And helped us see Jesus in the overall picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, we came to Emmaus, our native hometown.<br>It was late in the day, the sun almost down.<br>It seemed the stranger was travelling on<br>So we urged him, \u201cStay the night until the dawn.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we ate our meal, he broke the bread;<br>In an instant, we saw Jesus, no longer dead.<br>Our eyes were opened, but then He was gone\u2014<br>The One to whom our hearts had been drawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWere not our hearts burning?\u201d we both exclaimed,<br>\u201cAs we travelled the road and Jesus was named?\u201d<br>The Scriptures made sense as never before<br>And something inside came alive with a roar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We left the same hour, in the city to find<br>The followers of Jesus, in a new frame of mind.<br>Simon uttered words unheard before,<br>\u201cJesus I\u2019ve seen! He\u2019s alive evermore!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, we told of the One we\u2019d met that day<br>And the message He gave us as we travelled the way.<br>We told of seeing Jesus, alive from the dead<br>And how we knew Him in the breaking of bread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And as in our excitement we spoke of His being,<br>One stood in our midst, of whom we were speaking.<br>Jesus appeared, the One raised from the dead;<br>We were torn with terror and almost fled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But then Jesus spoke, \u201cPeace be with you,\u201d He said,<br>\u201cWhy are you troubled? Why do you dread?<br>Look, my hands, my feet; it\u2019s me you see<br>With flesh and bones, from death now free.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then He opened our minds to understand<br>How Scripture showed that it was planned.<br>That Moses, the Prophets, the Psalms declared,<br>Messiah must die, to a lamb compared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And from that day, there arose in our breast<br>A powerful fury never laid to rest:<br>To tell all others, \u201cJesus lives today!\u201d<br>God came as a Lamb, our sin-debt to pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2016 by John R.
