This is known as progressive revelation. This is also true about the Promised Deliverer\u2014the Saviour\u2014that God said he would send. <em>By This Name<\/em> follows Scripture&#8217;s historical narrative and builds an increasing comprehensive portrait of the Promised Deliverer as the story unfolds.<\/p>\n<p>For example, take the account of Adam and Eve\u2019s fall into sin (Genesis 3). Here, we see God&#8217;s promise to provide the One who\u00a0would rescue mankind from the consequences of sin.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.\u201d (Genesis 3:15 NIV)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>From this passage, we learn just a little about the Promised Deliverer, summarized in the table on page 73.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-73.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4507\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4507\" src=\"http:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-73.jpg\" alt=\"btn-table-73\" width=\"625\" height=\"137\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-73.jpg 625w, https:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-73-300x66.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>Later on, <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">Yahweh<\/span> reveals that all nations will be blessed through the offspring of Abraham and his son (Gen 22:15-18). The table on page 135 adds rows with two more facts about the Promised Deliverer. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-135.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4508\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4508\" src=\"http:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-135.jpg\" alt=\"btn-table-135\" width=\"599\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-135.jpg 599w, https:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-135-300x85.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 599px) 85vw, 599px\" \/><\/a>As readers progress through <em>By This Name<\/em>, they will see that what started off as scant details about the Promised Deliverer begins filling out to an ever-narrowing description that paints a picture of a very specific man. Readers feel a growing sense of excitement and anticipation. They can sense God&#8217;s plan coming to fruition!<\/p>\n<h6><strong>Benefit 1: When Jesus is finally introduced, his credibility as the Promised One has been fully established.<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>Working through the book in this way, the reader will be exposed to a series of tables containing specific facts\u2014prophetic details\u2014about the Saviour. At the point of Jesus&#8217; birth, it will be crystal clear that Jesus Christ is <em>the<\/em> Promised Deliverer, the very One God spoke about right in the garden of Eden. This is not a random baby. This baby Jesus fulfills all the prophetic details that God provided all those years ago! See the table on Page 228.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-228.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4509\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4509\" src=\"http:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-228.jpg\" alt=\"btn-table-228\" width=\"614\" height=\"415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-228.jpg 614w, https:\/\/www.goodseed.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/btn-table-228-300x203.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h6><strong>Benefit 2: The reader sees for himself that <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">Yahweh<\/span> is a God who makes and keeps his promises.<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">The major\u00a0religions\u00a0of the world lack a promise-keeping God.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">Leading readers to discover the identity of the Promised Deliverer through God\u2019s progressive revelation also helps the reader see that God keeps his promises. The journey of revelation shows that although a long time might have passed, God is a faithful God who keeps his word.
