This is a great book with solid teaching.  Would be a good book for a new Christian to read or in a small group study with those seeking to understand more about the Christian faith.  It would also be a good book for someone who has been a Christian for a long time who has not spent much time reading through the bible or maybe just needs a better understanding of how it all fits together.

Great book that clearly explains the greatest story ever told. I highly recommend it. I was shocked and disappointed , however, that in the list of resources, the person of the Holy Spirit was completely left out! I know nothing about the author, but based on my background, I would venture a guess that he is Baptist by denomination.

I would encourage a revision by the author, to include the power of the Holy Spirit to successfully live the Christian life. It appears to be a glaring oversight.

Editor’s Note: The book, The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus, does in fact include the Holy Spirit as a resource for the Christian life. In fact, the Holy Spirit is listed first in a list with the heading “Resources”1 in Chapter 15. Here is the text:

1. God Himself: When you trusted in Jesus, the Bible says the Holy Spirit entered you; he came to live in you. Now he is constantly accessible—to encourage you when you are downhearted, to urge you to earnestly live for him, to rebuke you when you drift into sin. The Holy Spirit is such a faithful companion that he is called the Comforter, the Helper, the Counselour—all of which are God’s names.
