A man in his early 40’s contacted me a couple years ago as he was sick and needing a liver transplant. Bob was a “biker” who worked in a motorcycle shop and very much looked the part. We got to know each other for just a few days before he was rushed to the hospital after vomiting up extreme amounts of blood. With him in the hospital, I talked with him on the phone, sent him letters, and spoke with him about making sure he was ready to meet the Lord, since he was entering into uncertainty with his health. He got his transplant quickly and I gave him The Stranger book to read while recuperating. He read it and got so excited telling me he “just believed” what it said. He started going to church and I could tell his whole demeanor had changed. He even told me that he had a mission field in witnessing to his biker buddies.

Just a couple months later his body started to reject his new liver; he ended up in the hospital and died very shortly. I felt so bad, because this guy was unafraid to tell others what had happened to him, and I thought he could be used of the Lord in many ways. It was sad but I am sure the Lord just brought us together for that short time so he would have a chance to find the Lord. I am convinced I will see him in heaven. The Lord used The Stranger book to convince him of his need, and like a child, he “simply believed”—trusting in who Jesus was and what He had done for him.

It was such a blessing to know he was ready to meet the Lord. What a great part The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus played in his life.
