Suggestions on using the Stranger DVD

The six DVD’s are packaged in a box along with one WorkBook. This package design facilitates passing the product on to an individual with the idea of being “ready to go.” For two or more people additional WorkBooks would be needed. It is important that each viewer have a WorkBook. For larger groups, there are discounts on bulk orders.

It is important to understand that this DVD series is different than any other “Bible Study” in which you may have participated. This series is really ONE story and ONE story only. If you do not finish the series, it will have been like building a house, but not putting up walls or completing the roof. The first 13 chapters are foundational, with the 14 th chapter tying everything together into a very powerful presentation of the core message of the Bible. But to understand the 14 th chapter, you need the foundations found in the preceding 13 chapters. Treat this series as one story.

In light of the above, it is best to watch the series in as short a time as possible. This can easily be done in one or two weeks if only a few people are watching it together. For larger groups, a weekend “retreat” is ideal. With a little advance planning, it can also be spread over a number of weeks. See the suggested schedules below to help budget your time. Once again, remember not to drag the series out over such a long time that the ONE story begins to fragment in listeners’ minds.

  • The entire series is approximately eleven hours in length and is divided into 52 sections with each section running between 4 to 27 minutes. You can watch as many or as few sections as you like in any given sitting.
  • There are 15 chapters, some very short and others quite long. It does not work to view the series according to chapters. Instead view it by sections. If you have an hour, you will be able to watch several sections in that time.
  • Its as easy as 1,2,3,4:
    1. To begin, insert the DVD in your player, sit down and watch the first section (actually sections 1 & 2). It will take nine minutes.
    2. At the end of the section, the on-screen hosts will ask you to put the DVD on “pause” and complete the questions found in the accompanying WorkBook. Completing the WorkBook takes only a few minutes and is very helpful in anchoring the key points. We strongly recommend the use of the WorkBook. Comprehension and retention are significantly higher among those who do.
    3. After the questions have been completed, check the back of the WorkBook for the answers. Review any questions that were answered incorrectly to make sure all the content has been understood. (NOTE: At this point it would be helpful to have the full text of the DVD series. You can obtain a copy of the 300-page book, “The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus,” by calling the GoodSeed office or ordering it on-line.)
    4. Once the WorkBook is completed—it will take only a few minutes—push “play” on the DVD and view the next section.

In this way you progress through the entire series. The total time needed to play the DVD series and complete the WorkBook will differ for each person or group.

The information in the upper right hand corner navigation box is based on actual viewing and WorkBook time. Prayer time, songs, breaks for snacks, etc. would be in addition to the time listed.
